An early morning incident on Hwy. 59 in Mandeville ended in a crash and sent two teens to the hospital.

St. Tammany deputies told WDSU that a stolen vehicle was spotted on a license recognition camera Wednesday morning at a gas station near the intersection of Florida Street and Girod Street in Mandeville.

Investigators said that when deputies approached the suspects, identified only as a 16-year-old boy and girl, the pair got in the vehicle and took off southbound on Hwy. 59.

Deputies said the vehicle crashed into a power pole cable.

The girl had been reported missing from Lafourche Parish, and the boy was reported missing from Covington.

The teens are currently in critical but stable condition as the investigation is ongoing.

Criminal charges are pending and the investigation is ongoing, according to the St. Tammany Parish sheriff.
